Yelling at a dog, in general, is not an optimal way to communicate with a dog, period. Why is yelling not optimal? Yelling usually comes with a tense/angry energy that dogs will not willingly follow. The people who yell at their dog will say, "Oh, trust me, they know they are wrong when I yell." What they don't realize is that the dog is just reacting to your aroused and tense energy.
