A haven for elephants Over the years, the Sheldrick Wildlife Trust has successfully reintegrated 64 orphaned elephants back into the protected wild expanses of Tsavo from the Ithumba Reintegration Unit. Situated in the shadow of towering hills that erupt from the landscape, this Unit is currently home to 34 older orphan elephants who are reliant on our care. While here, our Keepers accompany the orphans into the bush each day to explore their soon-to-be wild habitat and to enjoy a good mud bath!
