1936 Alvis SA 4.3-Litre Airline Sports Saloon by Bertelli Car number 18039 was prepared by the Alvis Works as a 3 1/2 Litre show chassis, and in that form appeared at the Paris Motor Show, sans coachwork, in October 1935, then the following month at the Scottish Motor Show. After these appearances, the chassis was purchased by Henken Widengren, a Swedish racing driver known for his exploits in ice racing, as well as a 5th overall finish in the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1932. Chassis 18039 began life as a 3½ Litre Alvis show chassis, displayed in Paris and Scotland in 1935 before being acquired by Swedish racer Henken Widengren, noted for his 5th-place finish at Le Mans in 1932.
