We were literally down to the last minute of our filming trip in Tofino and @lifeoflindalee had not caught a coho salmon, but then she caught something better. Pacific jack mackerel, or just jack mackerel, is in fact not a true mackerel species. It is in the jack family Carangidae, related to pompanos, trevallies and scads. Like other warm water pelagic species, they are primarily found further South but can emerge on the West Coast of Vancouver Island at times. #jackmackerel #jackfishing #fishi
