This is a predicted radar sequence for Central and Southern QLD and NE NSW for tonight. (From the ACCESS C model) It shows a band of thunderstorms and rain areas impacting the far southern QLD coast and inland of the CQC and Wide Bay coast at first, but then there may be the opportunity for some strong thunderstorms to form again along the coast from about Rockhampton south to the border early tomorrow morning (Tues). Showers are heaviest about the North Tropical Coast, with 30-60 mm recorded between Cairns and Ingham in the 6 hours to 9:30am AEST Saturday. Innisfail Aerodrome recorded the most, reaching 84 mm in this period. A low pressure trough lying across the Cape York Peninsula is generating a cloud band through northern Queensland, with moist onshore flow enhancing wet weather along the North Tropical Coast.
