These are ammocoetes. 🪱 Ammocoetes are the blind, worm-like larvae of lamprey. Here they are burrowing into the sediment of a stream. 🏞️ They will remain buried in the sediment for several years, filter-feeding and developing into juveniles with eyes and their unique suckermouth.
