This is an example of a lab grown diamond grown using the CVD method - basically the diamond grows from a hydrocarbon gas mixture that's deposited on it at really really high temperatures. There's plasma involved, it's crazy! Then you're left with one of these guys as rough, which will need to be cut and polished to whatever specification they want.
