Pooping during birth is normal, and sometimes it doesn’t happen at all. I’ve only seen poop in about 10% of the births I’ve attended as a student midwife. (Where it was my job to remove poop if it were to appear) Often, moms will clear out in early labor by having loose stool, which may prevent pooping during birth.
