Called out tonight to a wombat sighting in Googong. He has a bald patch on his leg that worried me but further footage showed the striations on his side and he scratched a lot An amazing resident stayed with him watching for over 40 minutes while I drove there. Thank you Candice.. you’re a legend! He’s not too badly manged and very alert. I had to use the full extendable pole to 4m as he kept bolting but got a dose on him in the ens If he’s out again you’ll see his blue bum💙 #wombat #wombatmang

The second rescue for today was more positive than the first two We went to the 3rd sighting and just as the sun set the wombat was found. He was lying in the tall grass resting but we managed to get a good dose on him What made my heart sing is how this community (in Jerrabomberra) came together and all care so much and just want him to heal He gave a few growls just to let us know he’s not impressed and he is sporting the usual blue mark on his back but Im confident we got him in time Thank yo

Another wombat treated for mange early this morning. We suspect it’s Stu, a wombat treated once last year before he disappeared. One dose Bravecto is not enough so it’s starting from scratch again and hopefully we can give him two follow up doses. Canberra-based wombat rescuer Yolandi Vermaark of Wombat Rescue is on the frontline of fighting mange in wombats. Continued our scouting along the Murrumbidgee river to assess the damage it’s done to our wombat populations after the massive flooding last week In this area though the riverbanks are much wider and gentler sloped so the river didnt push up as high although it was still a good 4m higher than it was tonight which is an enormous amount of water We found 3 wombats grazing and one had early signs of mange so I gave her a direct treatment She is just gorgeous and gave me hope | Wombat Rescue
