Fortunate Son is a song I wrote during the Vietnam War, inspired by the stark contrast between those who were drafted to fight and die for their country and those who had the privilege to avoid the draft because of their wealth and connections. It's a protest song that speaks to the timeless issue of social injustice and the abuse of power.
