The next day, I apply more thin-set, used the KERDI trowel, and waterproofed the transition with 7 inch KERDI-BAND. Schluter KERDI-BOARD tip…I use the shower valve plug to put a hole in the board. Then I center the mixing valve seal and trace a circle. I cut that circle 1/8” wider and that helps the valve seal fit tight. Cement board waterproofing tips…I dampen the board then immediately apply Schluter ALL-SET, first with the flat side of the trowel then notched side. I embed KERDI membrane and smooth it with a 6-inch joint compound knife. The goal is to make it as flat as possible against the cement board.
