On February 5, 1988 WWF’s inaugural “The Main Event” took place at Market Square Arena in Indianapolis, Indiana, airing live on NBC. The live debut broadcast drew a 15.2 Nielsen rating and 33 million viewers, both records for American televised wrestling at the time.
