We are releasing the last of the water from Tempe Town Lake. Please stay out of the riverbed for your own safety. Since water is precious to us, we pumped nearly 400 million gallons into the Salt River Project canal system for irrigation uses. This water will rejuvenate our downstream habitat. As soon as it is possible, construction crews will begin removing the original dam system. Town Lake is expected to reopen around April 30. Thank you for your patience. Tempe Town Lake is an iconic Tempe city attraction! It’s renown for being one of the best spots in town to watch the sunset from, but there’s actually a ton of adventures to be had here at anytime. 🥳 We definitely recommend renting some sort of watercraft to get out ion the water. You can hire a kayak, stand-up paddle board, pedal boat or donut boat. If you prefer a land adventure instead, we suggest renting either an electric bike, trail or road bike, or electric scooters to explore the lake.

Be careful out there Tempe. We saw heavy rain over the weekend breaking some daily rainfall records across The Valley. More than an inch fell in some areas of Tempe, including 1.54 inches at Rio Salado and Hardy and 1.06 inches near Broadway and the Loop 101. There was flooding near the intersection of Priest Road and Washington Street. Water is being released from the Tempe Town Lake Dam. With 100 degree temperatures just around the corner, Tempe has opened its Cooling Center and Hydration Stations. The cooling center at Church of the Epiphany-Tempe, 2222 S.
