Scottish Highland Dancing Competition
Competitors in the Scottish Lilt, Highland dancing competition, held during the 2024 Tomintoul Highland Games. These friendly Games were held on Saturday 20th July 2024 at Tomintoul in the Cairngorms National Park, Moray, Scotland. It is believed that the Scottish Lilt is a courting dance, performed by Scottish gentlewomen to show how graceful they could be. It is a combination of the Highland and Ballet forms of dance and for which the dancers wear the Aboyne outfit, the prescribed attire for f

Competitors in the Half Reel of Tulloch Highland Dancing competition heats, held during the 2023 Kenmore Highland Games. These friendly Games are held in early July each year at Kenmore by Loch Tay in beautiful Perthshire, one of the few evening Highland Games in Scotland, and return this year on Wednesday 3rd July 2024. The Reel of Tulloch usually follows a Strathspey, and is one of the few dances where competitors dance with each other (although they are still being marked individually). #high
