Dive Site Feature! During our time at ScubaBoard Invasion in Bonaire, we had the chance to dive the iconic Salt Pier! This site was closed for most of the week due to a ship docked at the pier, but it reopened just in time for us to squeeze in a couple of incredible dives. The Salt Pier is a unique dive site and it is actually a working pier for Cargill Saltworks transportation. Extending right from shore, it offers great diving opportunities both day and night, accessible by shore or dive boat.

One in a million find right under Bonaire’s famous Salt Pier. Pure dumb luck that this Diamond Squid egg mass drifted into the shallows and right at me, but I’d bet 99/100 divers would assume it’s just gunk or a plastic bag and ignore it. Measuring a bit less than 2m long, it appeared that the thousands of tiny eggs had already hatched out, but the casing was still in tact, and drifted right between the legs of the pier.
