One of our favourite cakes …Apple Cake Ingredients 6 oz (170g) wholemeal flour 6 oz (170g) caster sugar 6 oz (170g) soft butter 3 eggs 1 tsp baking powder 1 tsp ground cinnamon 1 apple 2 oz (50g) chopped walnuts Brown sugar to sprinkle on top Method Preheat fan oven to 170C (340F) and line an 8 inch square tin. Sift the flour, baking powder and cinnamon into a bowl tossing in the grainy bits in the bottom of the sieve, add eggs, caster sugar, butter and half of the nuts. Beat well together and s

Chris’s Potato Rolls ☘️ Recipe 500g of Plain Flour/All purpose flour 200ml of lukewarm milk (37C) 2.5 tsp of dry yeast 1 tsp of salt 1 tsp of sugar 1 large egg 50g of softened butter 200g of mashed potato You can easily use leftover mash from the day before. Pancake Tuesday 4 oz (125g) plain flour 1 egg 1/2 pint (300ml) milk Pinch of salt Butter (Makes 3) Sieve flour and salt into a bowl. Make a hollow in the flour and break in egg, bring the flour into the egg then slowly add the milk to avoid lumps and create a nice smooth batter. Chill for 30 minutes before frying.
