Mites on Moth Pupae!I don’t know much about mites good/bad but I noticed some pupae ready to hatch and then turning to mush so I tried taking a closer look. This one has some mites crawling on it. I don’t know what caused the other pupae to go mushy like they did but obviously somethings wrong 🤔 I have used a paintbrush to knock off the items and eggs as much as possible and cleaned nets too so hopefully the rest will be ok 🤞 I had them near my katydid enclosure which is probally where the mit

This was filmed overnight in timelapse so you can see the process, and how they utilize leaves as building material to reinforce their cocoons to protect their pupa during diapause. These moths will eclose (hatch) from their cocoons in about a month.
