Jeannie Seely (born July 6, 1940, in Titusville, Pennsylvania) was a pioneering country music singer‑songwriter often hailed as “Miss Country Soul.” She burst onto the national scene in 1966 with her breakthrough hit “Don’t Touch Me,” a deeply emotional ballad written by Hank Cochran, which reached No. 2 on the U.S. country charts and earned her the Grammy Award for Best Female Country Vocal Performance.
