China demonstrated its new giant "landing barge" during an amphibious landing exercise near Zhanjiang. The barges will allow China to transport large amounts of military equipment ashore without docking facilities. The ships will dock with barges and unload tanks, trucks and other armored vehicles, which can then be driven to shore via a 120-meter-long arm that acts as a bridge.
