The Amish in my community are not allowed to have Bible studies. Their beliefs are that if you read the Bible too much, it will deceive you. Sometimes when someone does start studying the Bible, they see things that are against the Amish beliefs and they are not allowed to speak out about it or they could get shunned, even a preacher can get shunned for preaching anything that is different than what the Amish already teach. The bishop is the leader of his church, but the Ordnung is the highest authority for every Amish person. Most of the Ordnung rules do not have any reason, and members of the Amish church are not allowed to question.
