Imagine finding a 3-4 meter long Southern African rock python! 🐍 Our students didn't need to leave anything to the imagination when they stumbled upon this absolute beast of a reptile! This #WildlifeWednesday we're looking at southern Africa's largest snake species. 🐍 Southern African rock pythons can grow up 6 meters in length and weigh around 50 kilograms making them quite intimidating. 🐍 They are non-venomous and kill their prey by squeezing and crushing, this is known as constriction. 🐍

Southern African Rock Python Captured: Emona - KZN A Southern African Rock Python measuring approximately 3 meters was captured on a farm in Emona - KZN this morning (Sunday). A farmer contacted Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) at approximately 08:52 after he spotted the female juvenile snake near his geese enclosure. The Python had consumed several geese eggs.
