We kicked off our fall cattle work with weaning today. We have now transitioned into a new season. Because our pastures are so spread out when we wean, we set up and gather to portable corrals. Then, sort the calves from the cows and haul the calves back to the home corrals. Where we will then background the calves for the next 45 days. We have five large bunches and one small bunch to do before we are done. We usually only get one bunch done per day since we also booster with another vaccine an

This is the last move for these gals before they get hauled to cornstalks. We prefer horses but if the terrain allows, sometimes it's just as quick to move cows with a side by side and pickup. We had a window to get the job done and I was already out there checking the fence over so we went and got it done.
