Protesters marched on the streets of New York on Monday to demand the release of a Palestinian activist arrested by federal immigration authorities Mahmoud Khalil, who played a prominent role in Columbia University’s protests against Israel,

Mahmoud Khalil, a recent Columbia University graduate and legal permanent resident, was arrested by federal immigration agents at his apartment. Khalil has helped lead pro-Palestinian protests at the university.
