1955年3月3日，国防部决定成立机场研究委员会，开启了建立越南空军力量的过程。经过70年的成立、战斗和成长，越南人民空军力量干部和战士在各场民族解放斗争、建设与捍卫祖国事业中立下许多显赫战功。

在美国举行的2023年第30次亚太经合组织领导人会议上，越南已建议承办2027年APEC会议并获得该组织21个经济体成员同意并纳入会议的联合声明。2027年是越南第三次承办该会议。坚江省富国市将成为2027年APEC会议举办地。
