A federal appeals court in San Francisco is set to hear arguments on whether the Trump administration should return control of National Guard troops to California.

A federal appeals court will hear arguments on Tuesday on President Donald Trump's authority to deploy the National Guard and Marines to Los Angeles amid protests and civil unrest, days after a lower court ruled that the president unlawfully called the National Guard into service.

Protesters filled the streets on Saturday, marching at noon from Dolores Park to the Civic Center as part of the nationwide No Kings protests. Thousands of protests were organized across all 50 states as a rejection of President Donald Trumps agenda.

Across the country, an estimated 5 million protesters took part in more than 2,000 protests, according to the American Civil Liberties Union, a co-sponsor of the nationwide protest. In the Bay Area, more than 50 protests were planned stretching south from Gilroy north to Santa Rosa.
