Professional tennis player Petra Kvitova will retire after the upcoming U.S. Open. The former world No. 2 tennis champ, 35, announced her impending retirement after 19 years via a lengthy Instagram statement on Thursday,

Throughout her nearly two-decade professional tennis career, Kvitová has won two Wimbledon Championships, in 2011 and 2014, and six Billie Jean King Cup trophies, which is the world’s largest annual international women’s tennis team competition. Achieving this feat ranked Kvitová as No. 2 in the world.

The Czech, who turned pro in 2006, won her maiden Grand Slam five years later at The Championships by beating Maria Sharapova in the final and also achieved a career-high ranking of No. 2 the same year. Three years later, the 35-year-old - who has 31 titles in her collection - lifted her second Major at The Championships.
