CHICAGO (AP) — Texas Democrats on Thursday moved closer to ending a nearly two-week walkout that has blocked the GOP’s redrawing of U.S. House maps before the 2026 election and put them under escalating threats by Republicans back home.

The battle over mid-decade redistricting in Texas -- where the state’s congressional lines could be redrawn well ahead of the upcoming census -- continues Monday.

Texas Senate Democrats staged a walkout over a controversial redistricting measure, but Republicans still passed it 19-2.
