The Food and Drug Administration has issued recommendations for the composition of influenza shots for the upcoming respiratory virus season, but without input from its independent vaccine advisers.

A new case of bird flu was reported in Maryland — the seventh known case but the first in central Maryland. The most recent case is affecting a backyard flock in Anne Arundel County. State Agriculture officials said the sick flock has been quarantined, but they're urging bird owners to take some extra steps to keep their flock safe.
