WASHINGTON − President Donald Trump threatened Iran's supreme leader with assassination as he pushed Tehran to give up its nuclear enrichment program and air strikes continued over Iran and Israel.

India's benchmark indexes fell on Tuesday as investors stayed on edge after U.S. President Donald Trump urged Iranians to evacuate Tehran, stoking fears of a broader regional conflict amid ongoing Israel-Iran hostilities.

Trump's evacuation comments in the early hours of Tuesday were reportedly followed by explosions and heavy air defence fire in Tehran. Iran launched two waves of missiles in response to the Israeli attacks, setting off air raid alerts in parts of central and northern Israel.

TEL AVIV, Israel (AP) — Iran fired a new wave of missile attacks on Israel early Monday, killing at least five people, while Israel claimed in the fourth day of the conflict that it had now achieved “aerial superiority” over Tehran and could fly over the Iranian capital without facing major threats.

"Giving up entirely," Trump told reporters early on Tuesday. "Iran cannot have a nuclear weapon, it's very simple." The air war between Iran and U.S. ally Israel - which began on Friday when Israel attacked Iran with airstrikes - has raised alarms in a region that had already been on edge since the start of Israel's military assault on Gaza in October 2023.
