Penny King 的事业规模越来越大，开始向海外扩张，由于1940 年代到1950 年代，正是亚洲经济起飞的时期，哈德曼也开始在海外设立自己的工厂，并且借此机会造访日本与香港当地，和事业伙伴会面。 也因此在当时认识了日本的重田龙三与重田哲夫兄弟。
