Mysterious swirl in night sky, what was it?
The phones at WCAX began ringing around 6:10 p.m. Tuesday with callers reporting a “mysterious swirl” in the night’s sky. Here is what was in the sky on the evening of Tuesday, Nov. 4.
Nevada’s Great Basin Star Train takes passengers on a three-hour journey through the desert for a guided stargazing experience under some of the darkest skies in the U.S. The train departs from Ely’s historic Nevada Northern Railway Depot and includes access to telescopes and astronomy experts from the California Institute of Technology.
People in Maine who spotted the spiral said it moved out of sight fairly quickly, but they were able to get pictures and video of it.
The month brings a spectacular lineup of celestial sights—including a rare chance to see Mercury without a telescope and a "micro" new moon.
