ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) — The USDA and the YMCA are working together to deliver 15,00 boxes of food to those in need. The boxes of food each contain fresh produce, dairy products, and chicken.

The YMCA wants the IKE Box to run the café in its new building, but the Bulgins have made no commitment. "What we do in this building is a lot bigger than a coffee shop," Tiffany Bulgin said.

The food boxes will be available on a first-come, first-served basis at YMCA facilities on a rotating schedule through June 30, 2020. There is a limit of one food box per car.

Volunteers and staff are preparing more than 6,000 pounds of food to be distributed to 130 local families. The boxes include a Thanksgiving dinner and enough food to last weeks after the holiday.

Supported by the USDA’s Farmers to Families Food Box program, the YMCA will be distributing food boxes again starting at 4 p.m. Thursday at the YMCA parking lot in Quincy.
