To read a histogram in Excel, first install the Analysis ToolPak Excel add-on, then input your data and generate a histogram, with optional chart and cumulative percentage numbers.

Matlab automatically creates axes for a histogram and resizes them as you resize the graph, but you also have options to change the axes manually.
