The Sandman season 2 delivers a conclusive, satisfying end to the story. It doesn’t leave behind a trail of loose ends, but it does leave a few things to the imagination. The big twist in the end is that Morpheus loses his life. After putting his son, Orpheus, out of his misery in the Volume 1 finale, he spilled family blood.
A wake is held to honor Morpheus, as those who loved him pay tribute and each of his brothers and sisters gets a chance to speak. In the end, they welcome the new Dream with open arms, and in doing so, welcome change and move forward with a new Dream.
Hell has frozen over—figuratively, of course—as The Sandman Season 2 Episode 2 delivers a dramatic, unexpected twist that changes the trajectory of the season.
