OpenAI's CEO just revealed a new version of ChatGPT that's supposedly good at creative writing, but it won't replace humans.

The move signals OpenAI's growing ambitions beyond improving accuracy and predictability. Last month, for example, OpenAI said its new ChatGPT-4.5 has improved emotional intelligence compared to previous models, with the ability to recognize patterns, draw connections and think more creatively, according to the company.

Alibaba Group Holding Ltd. has released a new artificial intelligence model that it says can read emotions, in an apparent bid to outpace OpenAI’s latest model.

In a post on X on Tuesday, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman said that the company has trained a “new model” that’s “really good” at creative writing. He posted a lengthy sample from the model given the prompt “Please write a metafictional literary short story about AI and grief.
