Flights scheduled at Marseille Airport have been suspended due to a wildfire raging close to the southern French port city, local authorities said Tuesday.

Local officials said that the airport would close for commercial flights to prioritise air resources, although some roads could reopen for the passage of emergency services.

A wildfire that reached France’s second-largest city and left around 300 people injured was stabilized but not yet extinguished Wednesday, authorities said.
