UNITED NATIONS, Aug. 5 (Xinhua) -- UN humanitarians on Tuesday pushed for a pause in hostilities in Sudan to reach trapped families facing starvation, particularly in the besieged city of El Fasher.

"Children in Darfur are being starved by conflict and cut off from the very aid that could save them," Sheldon Yett, UNICEF representative for Sudan, was quoted in the statement as saying.
