A new vegetation fire sparked in Garfield County on Thursday afternoon, officials reported, spurring evacuations in the area.
The county's emergency alert website indicates the fire is burning on County Road 309, just south of Interstate 70, between Parachute and Rulison. In a Friday update, the Garfield County Sheriff's Office said the fire has burned about 310 acres.
Colorado firefighters have continued making progress as they battle several large wildfires burning across the western part of the state.
