Roblox, the popular online gaming platform that hosts millions of user-created games, said Tuesday it is strengthening protections for minors. Roblox said it will soon require players to use AI-powered facial age-estimation technology to help verify their age.
The new safety measure comes as Roblox faces criticism and at least 35 lawsuits alleging users meet and abuse children on the gaming platform or that the platform helps facilitate child sexual exploitation and grooming.

Popular social game platform Roblox has begun its voluntary age checks for players using in-game chat features. The change brings age-based communications to the platform, allowing players to communicate only with users within their age group.
