The nominees for the World Video Game Hall of Fame have been announced, and the range of inductees spans nearly 50 years, which is a little bit like judging "Citizen Kane" and "Everything Everywhere All at Once" all at once.

The winners will be enshrined May 8 at the hall's new space inside The Strong National Museum of Play in Rochester.

Twelve finalists have been announced for the World Video Game Hall of Fame. Some classics are on this list, including "Angry Birds," "Frogger," "Age of Empires" and "Tamagotchi." While an international committee of experts get to vote on the finalists, the public can have an influence. The public vote ends March 13.
