More than 200 days after Donald Trump’s self-imposed deadline to end Russia’s war against Ukraine on the first day of his second term, the White House is quietly acknowledging that his upcoming summit with Russian president Vladimir Putin isn’t likely to result in a ceasefire.

The US president will speak to Ukraine's leader in a call on Wednesday, two days before "one-to-one" talks with Putin.

The White House is now describing Friday's planned summit in Anchorage, Alaska, between President Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin as a "listening exercise." CBS News senior White House and political correspondent Ed O'Keefe reports.
