Katie Thurston said her “fellow sister” Ananda Lewis’ death from breast cancer had her “spiraling” for a day about her own diagnosis. She admitted that it's scary to have her tumor inside her body and said she is anxiously awaiting her double mastectomy.

Lewis was a prominent figure across a variety of MTV shows in the late 90s and early 2000s. She was a host of the ultra-popular “Total Request Live” and “Spring Break” programs. Lewis also conducted interviews with some of music’s biggest stars at the time.
