The notification from ICE came after Abrego Garcia rejected a plea deal to be deported to Costa Rica in exchange for pleading guilty to human smuggling charges and remaining in jail, according to a court filing from his attorneys.

Kilmar Abrego Garcia, the Maryland man who was unlawfully deported to El Salvador earlier this year, urged supporters at a rally to “continue to fight (and) resist” before he checked in at the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement field office in Baltimore on Monday.

Kilmar Abrego Garcia faces deportation to Uganda and has been offered a plea deal that includes eventual deportation to Costa Rica.
